Community Blood Bank Honors UPMC Chautauqua WCA Donor Group of the Year

JAMESTOWN, NY (August 23, 2017)—UPMC Chautauqua WCA is among a select group of hospitals recognized by the Community Blood Bank Of Northwest Pennsylvania & Western New York as Donor Group of The Year.  Elizabeth DeRosa, blood mobile recruiter for UPMC Chautauqua WCA, was honored as Donor Chair of The Year. 

Since the first of the year, hundreds of individuals have donated blood at the UPMC Chautauqua WCA blood mobile drives.

“Our donors save lives,” said Betsy T. Wright, president UPMC Chautauqua WCA, adding that all Community Blood Bank donations stay local to help those who need blood locally.  “Blood donation is part of our commitment to provide high-quality health care in Jamestown.  Through a single donation, you can help save up to three lives and ensure that local hospitals and patients have an adequate supply of blood.  We are humbled to receive this honor and extend our deepest gratitude to our employees and community schools, businesses, and donors for making a vital contribution to the well-being of our patients.”

Kathy Hastings, mobile drive recruiter for the WNY Community Blood Bank, praised the dedication of blood donors and the hospital’s commitment to blood donation.  “A hero is born every time a donor gives blood,” said Hastings.  “The local schools and businesses who host blood mobile drives and the donors who generously rolled up their sleeves to anonymously give of themselves are our silent heroes.   We are overjoyed to acknowledge UPMC Chautauqua WCA for its valiant efforts on behalf of the patients they serve.  The hospital has always gotten behind their drives to do everything in their power to make these life-saving events a success.”
